Thomas Markle was reportedly told of his daughter, Meghan Markle’s pregnancy ahead of Kensington Palace’s official announcement.
The 74-year-old, who frequently condemns his own daughter in media interviews, is “absolutely delighted” by the news.
A royal source told The Royal UK:-
“He thinks the Duchess of Sussex will make a great mother as she is already so maternal”.
When Kensington Palace shared the royal baby news, the press release said Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland was indeed happy to be welcoming a grandchild.
Although, it didn’t mention Thomas.
The former Hollywood lighting director has been estranged from his daughter since her royal wedding on May 19. It was revealed that Thomas had colluded with his older daughter Samantha, to stage paid paparazzi photos ahead of the event.

He also suffered heart problems that prevented him walking Meghan Markle down the aisle. However, after following in his older daughter’s footsteps and criticising the royals, the pair became estranged.
Both father and daughter are not in touch.
It is thought that Thomas hasn’t spoken to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at all since the wedding. However, a source told The Royal UK he overjoyed to hear Meghan’s baby news before it was made public.
The insider adds:-
“Thomas sees this as a chance to fix the problems between him, Meghan and Harry. He is desperate to be there for his grandchild and wants to play an active role in their life”.

Reports are that he texted daughter Samantha to inform her of the news.
“It just makes everything that happened over the last year disappear. I want Meghan to be happy and calm and have peace. Everybody needs to be positive”.
Despite this positive start, Samantha’s reaction took a more sour turn. She said:-
“I would hope that for the sake of the baby the family, the world and my dad, that leaving him out of the statement was not intentional. I hope my dad is included at a proper time”.
