Sophie has given a rare interview about her family life with Prince Edward & their children and how she felt after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left.

The Countess of Wessex, Sophie, has spoken out about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s shock departure from the royal family.

Speaking to The Sunday Times’ Christina Lamb, Sophie reflected on Prince Harry and Meghan. She said: “I just hope that they will be happy.” She further added that when it comes to welcoming new members to the family, everyone plays their part. “We all always try to help any new members of the family”.

Analyzing her relationship with Prince Edward and the media attention that came with it in the early days to Harry and Meghan’s, the mother-of-two said: “Remember I’d had five years to settle. And for our six-month engagement, I was even living at Buckingham Palace. Not that you certainly know how things will eventually pan out.”

Sophie has a good relationship with members of the royal family and is particularly close with the Queen, and the Duchess of Cambridge. However, Meghan’s warmest attachment may-be with a member of the wider family unit. It’s believed Meghan Markle gets along well with Prince Edward’s wife Sophie, the Countess of Wessex.

“Sophie is frequently at Windsor taking her kids riding on the Queen’s horses and playing,” a source told The Royal UK. “It’s just the lifestyle, very much the kind Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want for their young Archie.”

For those who don’t know, Meghan Markle and Sophie’s past professional lives also bear some overlap. Before she became a full-time working member of the royal family in 2002, the Countess had a very flourishing career in public relations. Prince Edward and Sophie are loving parents to children Lady Louise and James Viscount. Currently, their family is isolating at their home in Bagshot Park, Surrey, during this pandemic.

The royal couple has successfully managed to keep Louise and James out of the spotlight for the majority of their childhoods. But, now that they are older, they are being seen more and more in the public eye.

Sophie also gave an insight into her children’s bond with their grandmother, the Queen. “I guess not everyone’s grandparents live in a castle, but where you are going is not the important part, or who they are. When they are with the Queen, she is their grandmother,” she said.
