From different countries to private and far away islands, here’s where the royals headed for their honeymoon.
For royals, everything is lavish and unique including their honeymoon.
- 1923: QUEEN ELIZABETH AND KING GEORGE VI.
After being introduced in public in 1920, Elizabeth rejected the future king’s proposals two times. She was prudent of the enormous responsibility of becoming a royal. But then, eventually agreed to become George’s wife. They spent their honeymoon for two weeks at Polesden Lacey, a manor house in Surrey.
- 1947: PRINCESS ELIZABETH AND PHILIP MOUNTBATTEN.
They first met each other in 1934. It was at the wedding of Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark who was Prince Philip’s cousin. After more than a decade of friendship, the families officially announced their engagement in 1947. Then the couple got married at the Westminster Abbey. They spent their honeymoon at Birkhill Lodge. It is a part of the Balmoral Estate in Hampshire.

- 1973: PRINCESS ANNE AND CAPTAIN MARK PHILLIPS.
Princess Anne is the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth. She married Mark Phillips, a lieutenant in 1st Queen’s Dragoon Guards. Like mother, like daughter. Anne also got married at the Westminster Abbey. The couple spent their honeymoon aboard the royal yacht, Britannia while traversing the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

- 1986: SARAH FERGUSON AND PRINCE ANDREW.
Sarah and Prince Andrew knew each other as children. Then they later became romantically linked. Exactly four months after Prince Andrew proposed on his 26th birthday, they got married. The couple went on a jet to the Azores Islands near Portugal. Furthermore, they went for a five-day sail in the Atlantic aboard the royal yacht, Britannia.
- 1981: PRINCESS DIANA AND PRINCE CHARLES.
Prince Charles and Diana first met in 1977. Their relationship got intensified when Charles invited Diana for a weekend at Balmoral in the year 1980. Twenty-year-old Princess Diana married Charles just one year later. Both spent their honeymoon sailing the Mediterranean aboard the royal yacht, Britannia. Furthermore, they visited Scotland, where the rest of Charles’ family had gathered at Balmoral.
- 2011: KATE MIDDLETON AND PRINCE WILLIAM.
Kate Middleton and Prince William were classmates at St. Andrew’s when they got attracted to each other. After breaking up and reconciling, the pair became engaged in 2010. After their televised wedding at Westminster Abbey, the two went for a honeymoon on a private island in Seychelles.

- 2018: MEGHAN MARKLE AND PRINCE HARRY
While they tried to keep their honeymoon top secret, Kensington Palace eventually confirmed that the newlyweds were spending 10 days on a secluded villa on a private island north of Seychelles.
