“Silence is not an option. #BlackLivesMatter. “We all have the power to effect positive change.
“It is time to speak up and speak out. Time to have uncomfortable conversations with ourselves and with others”.
“It’s time to educate ourselves and unlearn. “Time to come together and build a better future as one.”

The original of the Black Lives Matter movement dates back to 2013 in the United States. The main idea of the campaign is against systematic racism and violence towards non-white people. The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust stemmed from The Queen’s Trust in early 2019 when the organisation set up to mark the monarch’s Silver Jubilee was shut down.

The new trust is a program which allows inexperienced members of the Commonwealth to share their ideas. They can also share their experiences and discuss projects to create leaders of the future. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have remained at the helm of this organisation even after their decision to step down as senior royals.
The Trust’s decision to back the Black Lives Matter movement breaks the Royal Family’s silence on the death of Mr Floyd. Mr Floyd died last Monday, May 25, while in police custody in Minneapolis. Police officers were called by a grocery store employee, who claimed Mr Floyd had paid using a counterfeit $20 note.

The officer placed his knee on the neck of Mr Floyd and remained in the same position. Mr Floyd could be heard saying “please, I can’t breathe” and “don’t kill me”. Mr Chauvin has been charged with third-degree murder three days after the death of Mr Floyd.
His appearance in court was pushed back from today to June 8.
