According to a maternity clothing expert, there is a reason why both Kate and Meghan opt for reduced hemlines when pregnant.
Meghan Markle used to stun everybody by wearing a short dress whenever she was out for any royal tour with Prince Harry.
Meghan Markle sported several outfits which highlighted not only her pregnancy but also her legs during her tour. According to the founder of Seraphine, there is a particular reason Meghan opted for shorter dresses, just like Kate Middleton did when pregnant with George, Charlotte and Louis.
Cecile Reinaud explained to The Royal UK “She’s likely to have quite a big bump because she’s quite a petite build. So highlighting legs and arms is always a good trick to keep a nice silhouette”.

“Kate Middleton did go shorter for sure. She went shorter, on a couple of occasions well above her knee, which she never does normally. And especially in winter, because when she wore opaque black tights, it looks okay”.

Meghan’s fashionable style started going more revealing when she went to New Zealand for the final leg of her tour in 2018. She sported a revealing black knee-length dress. It flashed her thighs as she walked down from the plane. The gown was the ASOS’s maternity wiggle dress. This dress is claimed to be very much affordable, available at the price of £35.
However, it was not the affordable price that raised eyebrows: It was its high-cut hemline as it was feared she might have broken royal protocol. But according to Myka Meierm, Meghan was constantly surrounded by a royal team who hand-picked her clothes and made sure she does not break the monarchy’s traditions.

Ms Meier told, “They did not give her the option to do something disrespectful. She had an entire team of aides that call in the pieces”. “They would have pulled appropriate pieces. The Palace, at that time, was very involved with what she wears and her presentation. And of course, she had the final say”. So both the ladies never broke any royal rules by wearing shorter dresses.
