Since their marriage into the royal family, Duchess Kate and Meghan Markle have been loaned many precious jewels.
Meghan Markle has received some items from the personal collection of her late mother-in-law, Diana.
From glittering tiaras on their wedding days to diamond-studded brooches, pieces of jewellery dug up from the archives and even traditional necklaces, Queen Elizabeth’s jewel vault has been good to the duchesses.
Princess of Wales, Diana, in her will wrote: “I would like you to allocate all my jewellery to the share to be held by my sons, so that their wives may, in due course, have it or use it”. “I leave the exact division of the jewellery to your discretion.” Can y’all imagine what it must have been like for both the duchesses to be presented with a jewellery box full of Diana’s treasures?

It would at least take our breath away. Diana had so many ornaments, given to her by Charles, her family, sultans and sheikhs, friends, boyfriends, jewellery designers, or purchased with her own money. She had sufficient pearls to populate an ocean, necklaces that dripped with diamonds, and sapphires galore — some of them big enough the size of eggs.

Though Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton haven’t brought out Diana’s ultra-blingy stuff — like her pearl choker with enormous sapphire — we have seen them wearing select pieces in public. Each time, it’s been a joy to watch how the jewels have been worn similarly or differently from Diana, with each woman putting her own stamp on it.
So far, the division of the jewels has been fairly even. Duchess Kate received her famous sapphire engagement ring, while the aquamarine ring went to Meghan. Kate Middleton has given her matching sapphire earrings, while Meghan picked her more everyday butterfly studs. Let’s take a look back at every piece of jewellery Meghan Markle has worn so far.
Diana’s Butterfly Earrings: While she was in Sydney, Meghan Markle wore a pair of Diana’s everyday earrings—a pair of golden butterflies inset with blue stones and diamonds.
Diana’s Gold-And-Blue-Stone Bracelet: Along with her butterfly earrings, Meghan also wore the Princess’ gold-and-blue-stone open bracelet.

Diana’s Aquamarine Ring: According to legend, Diana commissioned this aquamarine ring from jeweller Asprey after her divorce. Harry gifted the emerald-cut ring to his bride as a wedding gift and she has worn it twice since.
