Queen Elizabeth

This girl ate like Queen Elizabeth for a day — and you won’t believe her reaction.

Queen

How will you feel if you got a chance to be a Queen, temporarily though? This girl, Emily ate like Queen Elizabeth for a day and she already feels like a Queen.

Well, this may come to you as a surprise, but it is a true fact that she eats quite healthy and simple, but has specific indulgences.

You know what they say, trying new foods and flavours is a learning process, and re-trying foods can be even more enlightening. Queen Elizabeth has always been set in her ways when it comes to food. In addition to the strict Royal dinner table rules, the reigning monarch sticks with specific food that she likes. Although she tends to eat healthier options, she also knows how to indulge without going overboard.

This balance and the idea of being a temporary Royal inspired this girl to try the Queen’s diet. She ate according to a recent report from ‘Today’ that listed what Queen Elizabeth actually has for all of her meals.

THE FIRST THING QUEEN ELIZABETH EATS IN THE MORNING IS TEA AND BISCUITS.

The queen has a cup of plain Earl Grey tea with a few biscuits or maybe you can say cookies before her real breakfast. Emily did the same. But the one thing she would never think of is to drink Earl Grey, nor would she bust out her mother’s old china on an average morning. This, however, is exactly what Queen Elizabeth does.

THEN, SHE MOVES ON TO THE CEREAL.

Well, she says that she never knew that a bowl of cereal could feel so regal. This is when Queen’s real breakfast begins. Although she will occasionally have toast with jam or scrambled eggs. She usually goes with the low-maintenance breakfast of Special K cereal. As Emily did not know what flavour Queen Elizabeth likes or eats, she opted for chocolate almond.

SHE ENJOYS AN APERITIF BEFORE HER LUNCH.

She says, this drink needed sugar and she is not a cocktail connoisseur. So she had the bartender at a bar called ‘The Barroom’ in New York make her the Queen’s favourite aperitif. It’s a gin and Dubonnet. Queen Elizabeth takes hers with lots and lots of ice.

QUEEN HAS GRILLED CHICKEN WITH SALAD FOR LUNCH. (SOMETIMES)

This meal according to Emily was very refreshing, but a bit boring. For lunch, she usually has fish and a vegetable or a salad with her grilled chicken. Though Emily went on with a simple salad since the fish and veggie meal was very similar to Queen Elizabeth’s dinner.

According to Emily, there wasn’t much to this meal. It was just simple grilled chicken and some lettuce topped with olives and tomatoes.

SHE THEN GOES FOR AN EVENING TEA.

Emily says, since she is not at all qualified to re-create or to make a Royal afternoon tea, she went to ‘Alice’s Tea Cup’ in New York. There she has some help. She had a friend, who acted as her servant for that particular time.

Emily says:  “Given how much I enjoyed this particular meal, I wonder if I was a Britisher in another life. Tea is very important to me and afternoon tea is especially important to the people of the United Kingdom. I wish I could make this indulgence a habit. But then, I’ll have to settle for my own simple afternoon cup of tea in my small and tiny mug”.

QUEEN ELIZABETH LIKES MEAT AND VEGETABLES FOR HER DINNER.

Queen can and will have anything from salmon to a roast, to lamb for her dinner. She always has her meat well-cooked. Emily made herself some fish. Her Majesty usually has fish in her dinner time only. And she indeed loves to pair it with one of her favourite vegetables, zucchini. This vegetable, people in the United Kingdom call courgettes.

Emily says: “I surprisingly enjoyed eating my zucchini side pretty much. I certainly think it was because I didn’t cook it for too long, so I avoided the mushiness that added to my previous hatred of the veggie”.

FOR DESSERT, SHE LIKES CHOCOLATE AND STRAWBERRIES.

This is the prosperous life plus the Royal life. Strawberries and peaches are Her Majesty’s favourite fruits and desserts to have at the end of the day. Emily went on with the berries as peaches were out of season now. The Queen will sometimes have a bit of dark chocolate, so she added some chips to her sweet-dish-fruit trail mix.

HER MAJESTY FINISHES HER DAY WITH A GLASS OF CHAMPAGNE BEFORE GOING TO THE BED.

Well, everybody could get used to this one particular thing the Queen does. The last thing she drinks is a glass of champagne to swallow down the fruit and chocolate. Emily says, she couldn’t think of a better way to end her day. She normally has more tea towards the end of the night, so having champagne was a total change of pace for her.

AFTER FOLLOWING QUEEN’S DIET, THIS IS WHAT EMILY WANTS TO SAY.

“I can’t say I loved eating like Queen Elizabeth, but it was definitely a fun and unique experience for me. Ironically, trying out her structured meal plan made me step outside of my comfort zone pretty well. I would have never re-tried earl grey tea or zucchini if it wasn’t for Her Majesty. I even learned to love cereal again”.

“I appreciated the balanced diet of the healthy fruits and veggies with the indulgent drinks and sweet treats she has. Though, this diet isn’t something I’ll be implementing for the long term. I plan on indulging in high tea and glasses of champagne when I can in the future. To conclude, this whole exercise was a fun thing and made me feel like a Royal too”.
