Prince Harry: Meghan ‘loved’ her first royal Christmas with ‘the family she always wanted’

Meghan Markle’s first Christmas with the Queen & rest of the Royal Family was “amazing” according to Prince Harry.

Meghan and Harry will be spending their first Christmas in the US this year, along with their son Archie Harrison.

News claims they will be celebrating with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. The couple has already been spotted shopping for a tree at a Santa Barbara farm. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex avoided royal ritual last year when they chose to spend the Christmas season in Canada instead.

Archie Harrison has never spent the moment in the UK, despite being one of the Queen’s great-grandson. Whereas Meghan has spent two Christmases with the rest of the Royal Family. The first time was in 2017, where she and Prince Harry snubbed culture — they were only engaged at the time, and royals can customarily only bring their partners after they’ve officially wed.

Making the allowance for Meghan turned out to be great progress, according to Harry’s later comments. Prince Harry declared Meghan’s first Christmas with his family was “incredible”. He continued that she had “genuinely enjoyed it and the family actually loved having her there” as she spent the day with the family “she’s never had”.

Meghan’s parents are separated, and she has two half-siblings through her father who she is no longer in communication with. However, he prominently said there were “loads” of family traditions he had to explain to his wife, that “every family is complicated” — and that his family is particularly large.

Describing Meghan’s first taste of a royal Christmas, Harry remarked: “There’s always that family part of Christmas, but there’s that work factor as well. “I think collectively we had an astonishing time, staying with my brother and sister-in-law, running around with the kids and Christmas was wonderful”. “She would have been very anxious, I’m sure, about putting a foot wrong.”

Even so, Meghan’s first Christmas present for the Queen had the monarch in hysterics, according to insiders. It was her first year at Sandringham and, in accordance with the royal tradition of gifting one another novelty presents, she presented her a singing hamster which went down a storm.

The commemorations are very disciplined and follow an array of old royal traditions, including opening presents on Christmas Eve and never going to bed before the Queen. They even greet the public on Christmas Day during a walk to a nearby church service and have up to five outfit changes in one day.

This year, the Queen and Prince Philip are set to have a quiet Christmas in Windsor this year, and bubble up with Prince Edward’s family, to follow the Government’s guidelines. The monarch will reportedly avoid going to church so as not to encourage well-wishers to gather in crowds.
