Queen Elizabeth has awarded her dearest husband, Prince Phillip a prestigious title on their 70th anniversary. She appointed the Duke of Edinburgh, Philip a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order.
Doesn’t that sound like just the right, thing to give?
It isn’t just any new title for him. A tweet from the official Royal Family account stated: “Awards in the Royal Victorian Order are made personally by The Queen, for services to the Sovereign”.
This Royal couple married at London’s Westminster Abbey on Nov. 20, 1947. It was just two years after the end of World War II, in a glittering and sparkling ceremony which attracted statesmen and Royalty from around the world.
Seven decades on, no public events are planned, although the 91-year-old reigning monarch did acknowledge the occasion by giving Prince Phillip such an honour.
Queen Elizabeth and her husband, who recently retired from his active public life in August, celebrates their quite a huge milestone with a private party at the Windsor Castle. It is the monarch’s home to the west of London.
