After seeing Catherine ‘s example, Harry’s ex, Chelsy Davy made up her mind that she could not be a royal bride.

Prince Harry, now happily married to Megan Markle, was with his girlfriend Chelsy Davy at the time. Royal expert, Katie Nicholl, in one of her books, revealed that Chelsy was persuaded at the 2011 royal wedding that the life of a royal bride was not for her.

Prince Harry had an on-off romance with the Zimbabwean-born Chelsy for seven years: The pair met each other when they attended neighbouring schools and from there fell head-over-heels in love. But, Chelsy later studied law in South Africa and Prince Harry was based in the United Kingdom. They had an on-and-off relationship from 2004 to 2011.

During that time, Chelsy met Queen Elizabeth and was by Harry’s side for important ceremonial military events and the Diana Memorial Concert. But this Royal couple split for good just after attending Harry’s elder brother, William and Kate’s Royal wedding together.

Ms Nicholl wrote: “Being part of the royal wedding had made Chelsy’s mind up once and for all. The life of a royal bride was not made for her. And so, she told Harry she could never make the sacrifices Catherine had made”. One of Chelsy’s friends told Katie Nicholl: “It was just after Catherine and William’s wedding when she realised she couldn’t cut it.

Chelsy saw what it would be like to be in the spotlight. And, she didn’t want that kind of a life for herself. She truly loved Harry, but knew this wasn’t a life she could lead”.

Royal expert and author, Katie Nicholl’s book revealed many more things: She wrote how, although they stuck together like glue and made an effort to be friends, the Princess of Wales, Catherine and Chelsy Davy had very different personalities.

Katie Nicholl said: “They were fundamentally different young women. Catherine Middleton was rather sensible and conservative when it came to how she dressed and behaved”.

“However, Chelsy Davy was a much freer spirit who threw caution to the wind. She loved Prince Harry, but the fact that he was a prince was often more of a drawback for her than an advantage or a perk”.
