This year can be described as a second annus horribilis for the royal family.

The first was famously in 1992 when Windsor Castle truly burst into flames. Adding to the misfortunes, three out of the Queen’s four kids separated from their spouses. And keeping in mind that the Queen may not utilize this Latin word again but there have been a lot of scandals in the past 12 months. There was Prince Philip’s controversial car accident; Prince Harry’s searing statement about the press; a Prince Andrew’s declaration that he’ll step over from his royal obligations.



Be that as it may, there was a lot to celebrate too. This includes the birth and christening of baby Archie and a royal wedding and so on… Before 2019 comes to an end, take a look back at the 7 biggest royal moments of the year.

  • Prince Philip’s Car Accident

On January 17, Prince Philip’s vehicle slammed into another car near Sandringham. Luckily, the 97-year-old royal was safe, and the driver and passenger of the other vehicle sustained minor wounds. Prince Philip, in any case, did deliberately give up his license and is currently just permitted to drive on private streets.

  • The Royal Households Split

On March 14, in the midst of rumours of a rift between Prince Charles’ two sons, Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace reported that Prince William and Prince Harry were formally separating their royal family households. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s at that point moved to Buckingham Palace, while the Cambridges’ decided to stay in Kensington Palace.

  • Harry and Meghan Launch Their Own Instagram Account

  • Baby Archie Is Finally Here

On 6th May 2019, Meghan gave birth to a very healthy baby boy. “Their royal highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to announce the birth of their child,” which was posted on the Sussexes’ Instagram account. The child was named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, which was announced a few days later.

  • Princess Charlotte Marks Her First Day of School

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate went with their children, George and Charlotte, on her first day at Thomas’ Battersea in September. Keeping in mind that she was somewhat shy before the camera, Prince William said she is “energized” to begin the new school year.

  • Meghan Files a Privacy Lawsuit Against the Mail on Sunday

The Sussexes shared that Meghan is suing the Mail on Sunday, an announcement which was coupled with a searing open letter by Prince Harry about the press, in which he said: “I cannot begin to describe how painful it has been.” Read it in full here.

Later Prince Harry took legal action against the owners of the Sun and the Mirror over illegal phone hacking.

  • Princess Beatrice’s Engagement

The royal family announced the news that Princess Beatrice was engaged to her boyfriend “Edo” Mapelli Mozzi in September.”We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement,”. “We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married. The wedding is expected to take place sometime in 2020.
