Meghan’s father Thomas Markle has waded in on the decision made by his daughter and her husband, Prince Harry.
Thomas Markle gave his first statement after the couple decided to step down as senior royals.
This is not the first time Thomas Markle has made his feelings public. In the latest interview with popular Channel 5 News, his comments came less than 24 hours after statements from the Queen. Beside her majesty, Buckingham Palace also released a statement regarding the couple’s future. Thomas Markle said that the couple is “cheapening the royals”. Meghan is tossing away “every girl’s dream” with a preview clip from the upcoming interview released.
In conversation with AlaskaTV/Channel 5, he said:
“It’s disappointing because she actually got every girl’s dream. “Every young girl wants to become a princess and she got that and now she’s tossing that away, for, it looks like she’s tossing that away for money.”
He admitted that he doesn’t expect any communication from Meghan and Harry on account of his views. Thomas Markle also described them as “lost souls”. He also says that he doesn’t think they know what they are ” actually looking for”. The relationship between the father and daughter hasn’t been good since her marriage in 2018.
Thomas Markle is believed to have filmed the 90 minute documentary at his home in Mexico. Thomas Markle: My Story is supposed to be televised in the upcoming weeks although a date has not been finalised at the time of writing.
Yesterday it was announced that Meghan and Harry will no longer use their HRH titles. Furthermore, they are required to step back from royal duties which ensure they will have no access to public funds. The Queen has spoken of her wish for them to “build a happy and peaceful new life” now that the arrangement has been agreed.
It is expected that the changes, described as a “new model” will take effect this spring.
