One thing Kate Middleton did we hope Meghan Markle won’t.

It was only a short period between when Kate gave birth to her three children and when she appeared outside the Lindo Wing looking perfectly coiffed and beaming.


And now, Meghan is expecting her first child.

With this, there will be speculation about how her first pregnancy will compare to her sister-in-law’s. Every public appearance will be carefully assessed and judged.

And while Kate’s royal career has been seemingly effortless, there is one huge thing we want the Duchess of Sussex to do differently now that she’s expecting.

Don’t pretend it’s all so easy.

A few days ago, actor Keira Knightley published an impassioned, angry piece about the realities of pregnancy and birth. Knightley gave birth to her daughter Edie the day before Princess Charlotte arrived and she wrote of Kate:-

“She was out of hospital seven hours later with her face made up and high heels on. The face the world wants to see. Hide our pain, our bodies splitting, our breasts leaking, our hormones raging. Look beautiful, look stylish, don’t show your battleground, Kate”.

However, her pregnancies have been far from plain sailing. For all three, she experienced hyperemesis gravidarum.





Never once did her smile betray even an iota of the extreme nausea and fatigue she was experiencing. Similarly, her ultra speedy post-partum appearances have been presented in awe and wonder. 

But no matter how regal a mother might be, the realities of pregnancy and birth are exactly the same in all their painful.

So, what about Meghan now?

Well, reports say that Meghan will have to follow the same procedure as the Duchess of Cambridge did. Although, royal fans want things  to be done differently this time.
