Queen Elizabeth: “I think Meghan and Kate are the least hardworking in my family”.

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have been revealed as the least hardworking royals in 2018. It’s according to an analysis compiled by the royal Court Circular.

The royal Court Circular shows how many days each royal conducted official duties.

The younger generation of British royals has been lambasted by pro-republican groups for carrying out far fewer engagements than their elderly relatives. The Duchess of Sussex appeared on the list for the first time since her marriage. Meghan Markle only carried out a total of 96 engagements.

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate was technically the ‘least hard-working’ royal in 2018.

And that will be because, she only carried out a total of 87 engagements in 2018. Kate Middleton did, however, reduce her schedule due to the birth of her third child, Prince Louis in April. She was on maternity leave until resuming her duties in September.

Anti-monarchy group Republic said: “How can the British monarchy really survive when the younger generation can’t even be bothered to do even the light workload of their parents? It’s not work as the rest of us know it. Their working hours include watching sports matches and theatre”.

“However, the real question these figures raise is does Prince William want to be the King? Or is he just doing the bare minimum to keep his family happy in the hope he can have his cake and eat it”?

Well, that’s kinda harsh.

The Duke of Cambridge, William only carried out a total of 220 engagements in the UK and abroad. While his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, who is aged 92 carried out a total of 283. Prince William also carried out less than half of the workload taken on by his father, Prince Charles. He did a total of 507 engagements in 2018.

The Duke of Sussex, Harry attended even fewer events than his elder brother. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan and Harry have been busy starting their family. As the pair is expecting their first child in the spring of this year.
