The 92 year-old reigning monarch refuses to take it easy even now, continuing to shoulder a heavy load for the royal family. She is doing it all by herself.
Her Majesty once promised to serve her country till her last breath, and that is all what she is doing.
The Queen has worked all her life, kicking off her long weeks of engagements. And while the long-term work trend for her remains understandably down, the uptick in her workload this time shows that she is refusing to go into old age.
In the first six months of the year 2018, she undertook 13 per cent more engagements than 2017. Queen Elizabeth is currently fifth in line as the hardest working royal.
Burden of work comes when she will work alone.
She’ll be doing this extra work alone. For years, Prince Philip, was often by her side, but amid a number of health concerns, he is firmly ensconced in retirement.
That has left Her Majesty to soldier on alone. And now, we see her all alone. Like recently, when she sat by herself in a royal carriage at Trooping the Colour, and again on her way to the Order of the Garter service.
But, with the Duke of Edinburgh largely out of the picture, she is now often seen with other royals.
Recently, she has spent a day laughing with the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan during a series of engagements in Cheshire. All engagements of Queen Elizabeth’s which were beyond palace walls, nearly half were with other royals.
