The Prince of Wales, Charles was exasperated with his first born, Prince William over his desire to backpack on his gap year, according to a royal author.
The Duke of Cambridge, William and the Duke of Sussex, Harry are now happily settled into married life with Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle respectively.
They seem to be going from strength to strength within the royal family as they take on more senior responsibilities. Their mother, Diana famously wanted her boys as normal a childhood as possible. However, the young royals have sometimes come up against the limitations of royal life.
Katie Nicholl, in her 2010 book, ‘William and Harry’ revealed William’s desire for freedom on his gap year in 2000.
She wrote: “Not for the first time, the two were at loggerheads. Prince Charles sighed in exasperation and noted how determined and extremely stubborn his elder son, William could be. To the Duke of Cambridge, William;s anger, his father, the Prince of Wales, Charles had vetoed the suggestion”.
