We all know that Prince Charles and Camilla have a long history before they actually got married. There were many ups and downs in their relationship.
The Prince of Wales tried to stop the love of his life, Camilla from marrying Andrew Parker Bowles.
According to a royal expert, Penny Junor, Charles wrote to Camilla pleading with her to cancel her wedding. However, his true love went ahead with her marriage to Mr Parker Bowles in July 1973.
Writing in ‘The Duchess: The Untold Story’, Ms Junor said:-
“He did have one last-ditch attempt to get Camilla to change her mind regarding the wedding. Charles wrote to her the week before the wedding asking her not to marry Andrew”.

“Nevertheless, the wedding went ahead. In March of 1973, when Charles was thousands of miles away in the West Indies, Andrew asked Camilla to marry him and she agreed”.

Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles first dated in the early 1970’s.
But at the time, Camilla was not at all considered a suitable bride for the royal. They were not deemed to be fir for each other, even after falling for each other.
Charles’s future wife was expected to be from a more aristocratic background. Also, someone who had not had previous relationships.
Prince Charles spent a lot of time away as a young man due to his military career. He was linked to a number of other women before he announced his engagement to Diana in February of 1981.
Charles and Diana married in a fairy-tale ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral in July 1981.
However, Camilla and Charles’ romance never ended despite their separate marriages. In a 1994 documentary, Charles admitted he was not faithful to Diana after their marriage became irretrievably broken down.

And in her famous interview in 1995, Diana frankly claimed there were “three of us” in her marriage to Charles. It was in reference to Camilla.
Princess Diana added that her marriage was a bit crowded in the explosive interview. At the time, it was watched by millions of viewers.
Prince Charles and Princess Diana separated in 1992 and divorced in 1996. While Camilla’s marriage to Mr Parker Bowles broke down in 1995.
Charles and Camilla went on to marry in 2005, decades after they first fell in love.
