Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla just got a promotion. Look what is it?

Well, it’s a huge thing for the Prince of Wales, Charles and his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles. Recently, the royal couple got a promotion by Queen Elizabeth.


Now, Charles and Camilla had a glimpse of what life will be like when Prince Charles becomes King.

Prince Charles attends Order of the Garter service every year. This annual celebration honours those who have been knighted in recognition of their public service.

But this time, there was something different that caught our eyes.

In a nod to Charles’ future ascension to the throne, he was seated in the reigning monarch’s carriage along Queen Elizabeth. The Duchess of Cornwall, also joined the pair on their ride from Windsor Castle to St George’s Chapel.

When Prince Charles will take the throne, his wife will become the Queen Consort. And so, Camilla took her seat next to Her Majesty, while Charles sat opposite them.




If we take a look back at the previous Order of the Garter services, Prince Charles and his wife have followed Queen Elizabeth in their own carriage.

The Order of the Garter is the oldest tradition of the Order of Chivalry in Britain.

It is the oldest of all traditions and has happened for the last 700 years. And so, it was perhaps the perfect opportunity for Charles to get a look at his future role. The men with knighthood are of three kinds, they are:-

  • Garter Knights, are those who are handpicked by the reigning monarch without needing approval from ministers.
  • Current Garter Knights, include former Prime Minister John Major, and Former Governor of the Bank of England, Mervyn Allister King.
  • Recipients, of the honour are chosen because of their contribution to public service, national life or if they have served the sovereign personally.
