The achievement marks the second year in a row the American took the top spot. Her name also came second as the most queried term, behind ‘World Cup’.
Meghan Markle married Prince Harry on May 19 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor. After her marriage, Queen Elizabeth conferred on her the title of Duchess of Sussex.
It was a high-profile affair.

Around 600 people attended the event, included high profile figures such as tennis star, Serena Williams and actor, George Clooney. The service was watched live by 29.2 million in the US alone.

On October 15, the royal couple confirmed that they are expecting their first child. It is due next spring. Later that month, Meghan and Harry completed a 16-day Royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.
During their visit, the Duke of Sussex, Harry launched the fourth Invictus Games, for wounded service veterans, in Sydney.

In addition to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan’s wedding on October 12, Princess Eugenie married her long-term partner, Jack Brooksbank, also in Windsor.
850 guests attended including senior royals and celebrities like, Cara Delevingne and Robbie Williams. Another 1,200 selected by ballot, watched proceedings from the Windsor Castle grounds.

Former Emmerdale actress, Roxanne Pallett finished second, after accusing fellow Celebrity Big Brother housemate, Ryan Thomas of punching her.
The third and fourth spots were taken by American singer, Demi Lovato, who suffered an apparent overdose and the TV presenter, Ant McPartlin who struggled with alcohol addiction.
