All the things Meghan Markle did in her first year as a Royal Girlfriend.


At this time last year, Prince Harry was single, and Meghan Markle was known for her show, Suits as a smart paralegal, Rachel Zane.

However, behind closed doors, both of them were in the early stages of their Royal relationship.

It wasn’t long before the secret was out. However, Meghan was immediately pushed into global fame. The pair was first introduced in May 2016 when Prince Harry was in Toronto.

Somehow, Prince Harry and Meghan met up again when the American actress was in London in July to promote Suits. Things then became serious pretty soon. Take a look at how things have played out for them since then.

October 2016:

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s relationship was not yet public. Markle spent much of the month quietly shooting Suits, walking her dogs, and going out for meals with friends.

It was still the early days, but things were moving fast for the Royal couple. Harry was spotted in a London art gallery buying a diptych by contemporary artist Van Donna. That was a painting with a boy and girl holding hands on one side. It says “Everybody needs somebody to love”.

Then the news finally broke off their Royal relationship when Prince Harry was spending a week with Meghan in Toronto. Though the actress began to be a lot coyer in her Instagram posts. While Prince Harry was in town, the couple attended a Halloween party at Soho House, Toronto.

November 2016:

Soon after the news of their relationship broke, Markle posted a picture of two bananas hugging each other on her Instagram.

Prince Harry then took an unusual step of issuing a statement referring to Meghan as his girlfriend. He asked the press to stop harassing Markle. Soon afterwards, Meghan visited the Prince in London and was spotted shopping in Whole Foods near his Kensington Palace home.

January 2017:

It was a travel time once again for Meghan and Harry. They went on their first vacation together. Prince Harry took Meghan Markle to Tromso in Finland to see the northern lights.

Then the reports came that Meghan Markle had met The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate for the first time at Kensington Palace.

February 2017:

Meghan Markle was seen was back in the United Kingdom for Valentine’s Day. She and Prince Harry popped into Soho House for dinner.

March 2017:

The Royal couple spent almost a week in Jamaica together for the wedding of Prince Harry’s best friend, Tom Inskip.

Meghan Markle continued with her work for World Vision. She had previously made a visit with the charity to Rwanda when she flew to India at the end of the month, spending five days in Delhi and Mumbai.

April 2017:

By this time, things were getting pretty serious between the Royal couple. Meghan Markle announced that she was closing her lifestyle blog, ‘The Tig’. She also posted her last Instagram shot and wrapped up her work with Reitmans.

Then later that month Prince Harry flew to Toronto to spend Easter weekend with Meghan.

May 2017:

Markle spent much of the month shooting season seven of Suits.
She did, however, fly to the United Kingdom twice. The first time she watched Prince Harry play in a charity polo match and they were photographed kissing. It’s gossiped that this was around the time he presented his girlfriend with a gold thumb ring.

On her second trip to the United Kingdom, the American actress accompanied Prince Harry to Pippa Middleton’s wedding.

July 2017:

Markle celebrated the 100th episode of Suits with all her castmates.
At the end of the month, she flew back to London to see her boyfriend, Prince Harry and this time with her mother.

August 2017:

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry flew to Botswana together. There he took her on safari to celebrate her 36th birthday on Aug. 4.
