Kensington Palace announced the full line-up of page boys and bridesmaids. Prince George was preferred to be a page boy for Harry. Meanwhile, young Prince Louis, who wasn’t even a month old at the time, was left at home.
What about Meghan Markle’s father Thomas Markle?
Thomas Markle and daughter Meghan’s relationship further deteriorated in 2018. Just weeks before the marriage, Thomas was dealing with health issues, and it was announced that he wouldn’t be attending the royal wedding. Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland was the fan favourite for walking her down the aisle. It was later announced that Prince Charles would be taking over the honour in a sweet gesture.
There was some disappointing and racist commentary during the wedding. Most of the discussion centred around how Meghan’s heritage and American background could put an interesting new twist on the nuptials. The news left royal fans thrilled at the idea of witnessing a royal wedding unlike any before.
Pubs were playing live coverage of the wedding on their TVs. The cheers when Meghan stepped out of the car and onto the steps of St George’s Chapel were out of this world and echoed in homes, offices and bars around the world.
