William and Kate had been together for nine years before ‘the time was right’ for a proposal. And so, Prince William exactly knew when that right time came.
So basically, their time together in Anglesey helped William make up his mind. And once he made up his mind, he didn’t wait for long to propose.
Kate and William have now stepped up to more senior royal duties. That is, as they carry out their work in support of Her Majesty. Now, the royal couple lead their busy royal lives at Kensington Palace, although Anmer Hall is their beloved country retreat and thought to be Kate’s ‘dream home’.
So, from where did this all start?
Before the pair stepped up to more senior royal duties, they lived in rural Anglesey. There, William worked as an Air Ambulance search and rescue pilot. Royal author Marcia Moody, in one of her books, reveals that it was during this blissful period in Wales that William finally decided to propose.

Ms Moody writes: “Prince William and Kate Middleton had spoken of marriage. So, they knew it was on the cards but it hadn’t been the right time, until now”.
The royal biographer also describes how the pair loved the ‘sleepy rural surroundings’. The ‘very romantic’ surroundings were ideal for Kate Middleton, who has “always been fan of the great outdoors”.
Ms Moody continues:-
“Over the couple of years while they were based there, the Duchess of Cambridge looked after everything related to their home. Unlike other royals before him, William employed no domestic staff and Kate took care of it all”.
“They both knew what was coming. They knew that, although many good things would follow, it would also mean a life of increasing duty and less time to themselves”.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met each other at the University of St Andrews in 2001. But, it was not until 2006 that Charles and Camilla publicly welcomed Kate into the royal family.
Prince William would eventually propose to Kate in October 2010.
At their 2011 royal wedding, Prince Harry said in his best man’s speech how his brother and Kate Middleton’s decade-long relationship had been an ‘inspiration’. Not only this, Harry, by this statement, made the bride shed a tear.
The happy couple have since welcomed three kids: George, Charlotte and Louis into the world. And, many royal watchers are speculating that a fourth pregnancy may be on the cards for the young family.
