The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have decided to add a new member in their family. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly bought themselves a new dog: a Labrador Retriever.
According to People, the couple got the dog — believed to be a Labrador — in early summer.
The magazine also reports that the new pup has been travelling with them from their home in London at Kensington Palace to their country estate in the Cotswolds this summer. (It’s unclear if the pooch also got the invitation to travel to Lake Como with the Clooneys last weekend.)
The newest royal couple already has one dog, Meghan’s rescue beagle Guy. He even travelled to the UK before the royal wedding. No word yet on how he feels about his new sibling. The Duchess had to leave her other dog, Bogart, a Labrador-Shepherd mix, behind in Toronto when she moved across the pond.
“I’ve had two dogs that I’ve had for a long time, two rescue pups,” Meghan said in her first interview following her engagement to Prince Harry. “One is now staying with a very close friend and the other little guy is, yes, he’s in the U.K. He’s been here for a while. I think he’s doing just fine.”
In fact, there are two new books in the works about Guy and his fairytale journey from a shelter to Kensington Palace.
Prince Harry and Meghan’s Lab is only the latest in a long line of royal dogs. Of course, the Queen is famous for her love of corgis, but Prince William and Duchess Kate also have a pup, a Cocker Spaniel named Lupo, which they got shortly after their wedding.
