It’s actually been many months since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said, ‘I do’, in front of the world’s media in Windsor Castle.
And now the Duke of Sussex has been speaking out about some of the logistics of his big day.
One of the biggest stories in the build-up to the pair’s nuptials was whether or not Thomas Markle would be walking his daughter, Meghan down the aisle. And if not, who would be!?
Well, as we now know, Prince Charles did the honours.
But, did you ever imagine what all happened at that time? Who asked Prince Charles? Well, to clarify, it was actually Harry who asked his father to step in.
In the documentary, “Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70″, Prince Harry speak about those final few days before his wedding. He also talked about how it came to be that Charles would walk his future daughter-in-law down the aisle.
“I asked him to. And I think he knew it was coming and he immediately said, ‘Yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Meghan needs and I’m here to support you'”.
“For him, that was and will always be a fantastic opportunity to step up and be that support. And you know he’s our father so of course he’s gonna be there for us”.
The Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla also found the moment to be incredibly special.
Camilla Parker Bowles said:-
“I think that was very touching. Sitting where I was, you couldn’t hear what he said. But afterwards watching it on the television, I think it was a very lovely gesture”.
