Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip are celebrating their 70th anniversary this year on November 20. This also means a new commemorative coin from the Royal Mint is on its way.
For a milestone this stable, they’re not just releasing one coin, they have set a benchmark for generations to come.
They are rather releasing an entirely new set of coins designed with the Royal couple in mind. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles have come a very long way. They will be the very first British Royal couple to complete their 70 years of marriage together.
Not to forget, there’s the standard Royal crest and crown coin. It reads “70 years of marriage” below the design. Then there’s the Royal but a classic profile shot. We all already know that Queen Elizabeth’s profile is printed on all the notes and on countless coins throughout the United Kingdom. This very one is going to be very much special because Her Majesty is joined by her husband’s profile, too.
But among them all, the sweetest and the most admirable coin design features Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip riding horseback side-by-side. This design of moving side-by-side is an acknowledgement of their shared love.
Around the edge, it reads, “Wedded love has joined them in happiness”.
It’s actually been a pretty big and surprising year for the oldest Royal couple. Prince Philip officially retired from all his Royal duties in August after seven decades of public service with different organizations. According to the recent reports, he’s technically ‘off the clock’, but he may still choose to accompany his wife to engagements from time to time.
