Queen Elizabeth named her granddaughter-in-law, Kate, as the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, recently.
This royal title is considered the highest possible rank for a British royal. Kate Middleton had one unforgettable wedding anniversary.
This great honour came on the eighth wedding anniversary of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate. It also came just weeks after the two women stepped out for their second joint outing to visit King’s College’s Strand campus in London.
Duchess Kate, became a member of the British royal family when she married William, in 2011.
Prince William is Her Majesty’s grandson and also the second-in-line to the British throne. The royal couple share three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. According to some reports, the Royal Victorian Order was created by Queen Victoria in 1896.

It was created so as to allow her to recognise people who helped her or represented her and the monarchy. The ruling monarch personally selects who is given this honour.

Previous Knights and Dames Grand Cross include the Queen’s sons Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, as well as Camilla Parker Bowles.
According to reports, the position of Grand Master of the Order was created in 1937.
It was then occupied by the Queen Mother until her death in the year 2002. Elizabeth, then appointed her daughter, Princess Anne, to the spot in 2007. According to palace sources, the reigning monarch is determined to show Duchess Kate how to settle into her future title gracefully in the public eye.
A source told The Royal UK: “She’s really taken Kate under her wing. The two of them will often spend hours discussing royal life and the future of the monarchy. It’s taken a long time for Kate to get to where she is today. But, she’s ready for it”.
