13 oddest rules the members of the royal family must follow

rules

If you’re heading to Buckingham Palace, forget about what you know is right. They have rules the ordinary people mostly do not know.

The Royal UK prepares a list of 13 oddest rules that the member of the royal family needs to follow. All these peculiar edicts and rules make the Windsors even more fascinating.

  • FORMAL WEAR IS REQUIRED FOR THE DINNER.

It doesn’t matter how much in you are with this crew. If you’re wearing jeans and a t-shirt to a Royal Family dinner, you probably will never be invited back.

  • QUEEN HAS THE SAME BREAKFAST EVERY DAY.

Well, Queen Elizabeth is indeed a simple woman at her very core. And simple women like a good old-fashioned simple breakfast, which consists of nuts, dried fruit and Corn Flakes.

  • NAPKINS MUST BE FOLDED IN HALF AFTER BEING USED.

Nobody wants to see your dirty and used napkin, even if it belongs to a Royal.

  • WHEN THE QUEEN STOPS EATING, EVERYONE WITH HER DOES.

At a Royal Family dinner, you always need one eye on your food and the other eye on the Queen.

  • PRINCE PHILIP HAS TO TRAIL BEHIND THE QUEEN.

According to the traditions, Prince Philip must always be two steps behind his lady in the public.

  • THERE IS ONLY ONE RIGHT WAY TO SIP THE TEA.

The teacup handle must be held with the thumb and the index finger only. While the middle finger holds the bottom. Also, they can only take sips from the same spot as taken from earlier. This is so as not to get lipstick all over their teacup. Royal tea parties are indeed next level.

  • CHRISTMAS WITH THE WHOLE FAMILY TOGETHER IS MANDATORY.

If you thought prepping a Christmas dinner for your family was stressful, how do you think the Royals feel? Christmas together at Sandringham, the Queen’s private country estate is typically a must. Although, William and Kate have managed to slip away to the Middleton residence at least once.

  • WOMEN MUST WEAR HATS AT FORMAL EVENTS.

Beautifully styled Royal hair should always be shown off. But when it’s time to really get fancy, hats are mandatory for the Royals.

  • ROYALS DO NOT BOW DOWN.

Royals play their curtsy humbly and naturally. Just a slight bend in the knee works.

  • THE ROYAL WOMEN MUST ALL SIT IN THE SAME WAY.

The Royal ladies, all sit with their legs slanted to the side to ‘protect their modesty. Maybe it’s not an actual regulation, but the ‘Duchess slant’ has certainly been adopted.

  • PRINCE GEORGE CAN ONLY WEAR TAILORED SHORTS.

Customary with the Royal traditional, the little Prince wears tailored shorts and not pants.

  • THEY MUST ACCEPT EVERY GIFT, SMALL OR BIG, GRACIOUSLY.

Even if it’s the lamest edible arrangement, the Royal Family has to accept every single gift they get. But Queen Elizabeth decides who gets to keep which gift in the end.

  • AT THE TIME OF TRAVELLING, THEY MUST PACK ONE ALL-BLACK OUTFIT.

This they have to. Just in case a funeral happens. The Royal Family really knows how to carry themselves and think ahead.
